"On 11th January, the art project "A Sleeping Beauty" commenced at Villa Zebra, Museum for children. The residential complex at the Rosestraat/Stieltjesplein, called the Stiro block, will change completely this coming year,
it will become a huge painting, "A Sleeping Beauty” of ivy.
Artists will paint every abandoned residence, so by the end of 2006, the entire façade of the block will be ‘overgrown’ by ivy plants of paint. The technical state of the residences is very bad. A demolition permit has been granted and the Nieuwe Unie has started relocating the residents in May 2005. For the remaining residents in the residential complex and the neighbours, the boarded up façade is a despairing sight. The Nieuwe Unie wants to keep the neighbourhood as lively and liveable as possible. The artists from Wandschappen therefore developed the project
