A catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition:
KÜF/MOLD Art route Charlois Rotterdam 2009:"KÜF/MOLD 2009 is the 3rd edition of the travelling, multicultural city exhibition which commenced in Istanbul in 2007 and which took place in Ghent in 2008. After Rotterdam,
lKÜF/MOLD will also visit amongst others Memphis and New York.
The art route is an initiative of the curator team KOOH, Suzan Batu (TR/USA) and Bill Doherty (USA).
They assembled the Rotterdam edition together with co-curators Lieve D'hondt (B) and Ivo v/d Baar (NL).
The Turkish word "küf" means fungus/mold but also hollow casting mold. The meaning of this word represents the organic and creative domain to which KÜF/MOLD relates:
Urban areas which, due to an arrears situation, turn out to be suitable locations for artists and foreign entrepreneurs.
For this 3rd edition, the choice fell on Old Charlois because of the remarkable location development in this neighbourhood.
KÜF/MOLD shows the encounter between artists, shop keepers and locals. This encounter defines the development of the neighbourhood Old Charlois, both in economic and in cultural-social meaning”.
