Inez Smit (1967) lives and works in Rotterdam.
In 1991, Inez graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (College for the Arts) Utrecht in the department of Fine Art.
After her graduation, she began to use the printing presses of the Grafisch Atelier Utrecht (Graphic Studio Utrecht), which employed her as workshop manager. In that function, she has also printed many works of other artists.
With her own work, Inez was nominated in 1996 for the Kwak&vanDalen&Ronday graphics award and it 1998 she was nominated for the Prix de Rome Printed Art..
In 1995 and 1998, Inez received Basisstipendia (Basic funding) from the Fonds voor Beeldende Kunsten Vormgeving en Bouwkunst Amsterdam. (Fund for Fine art, Design and Architecture)
From the City of Utrecht, she previously received a Starter subsidy and a Stimulation subsidy.
During her years at the GAU, Inez also taught courses in printed art at the Kunststation
(Art Station) in Leerdam and at
Kade-Ateliers (Dock Studio) in Utrecht. From 2002 onwards, she is active as teaching assistant in the graphic workshops of the Royal Academy of the Hague.
In 2008, she obtained her Didactic note for Vocational art education at the Hogeschool
voor de Kunsten Utrecht, where she worked for three and a half years as teacher in printed art at Art&Education.
Inez has had solo presentation amongst others at SBK-Amsterdam , CBK-Alphen a/d Rijn,
Gallery 300 Procent in Schiedam, gallery the Langhuis/Zwolle, gallery Rehorst and Pulchri Studio/the Hague.
She also participated in various group exhibitions, amongst others at Barbican Art Centre/London,
Edinburgh Printmakers/Edinburgh, art centre Zaanstad, Egyptian Int. Print Tri-annual/Cairo, Prent.NU/Amsterdam and Trilateral Print Exchange exhibition/Tokyo/Vancouver.
In assignment, amongst other works, Inez made a donator print and an installation in the context of Campingateliers (camping site studios) for the GAU/Utrecht, an exterior mural in the Rosestraat/Rotterdam commissioned by Wandschappen, an artistic application on the exterior wall of centre De Dukdalf commissioned by the Salvation Army and an artistic application on location in Charlois during the art route KÜF/MOLD in Rotterdam.
